Mistle Thrush
Turdus viscivorus
1 Photos
A fairly large thrush, displaying gray-brown upperparts and whitish underparts with rounded dark spots. Its tail shows small white corners, a feature absent in the notably smaller Song Thrush. During flight, it appears pale and grayish overall, contrasting the dark brownish hue of the Song Thrush. This bird frequents various wooded environments like parks, moorland with hedges, and taller trees. It commonly forages on extensive lawns and grassy areas, often far from shelter. The melodious warbled song is sweet and rich, resembling that of the Eurasian Blackbird rather than the Song Thrush. Its dry rattle calls are easily recognizable.
