Golden Eagle

This notable raptor, found across the Northern Hemisphere, boasts an impressive size and dark brown plumage. Its distinctive golden nape is challenging to spot, particularly from below. Immature individuals display a white underwing patch and a white tail base. Contrasting with similar immature sea eagles like the White-tailed and Bald Eagle, it lacks prominent white mottling on the belly and features a relatively short-necked appearance. Frequently seen soaring with wings forming a slight V-shape, this bird predominantly preys on mammals in secluded, expansive landscapes ranging from grasslands and steppes to mountainous regions.
