Pied Wagtail
Motacilla alba

Easily recognizable by its bold mix of black, white, and gray plumage, the distinctive yet diverse bird showcases significant variations worldwide. Unlike the White-browed or Japanese Wagtail, it lacks a clear, fine eyebrow. Thriving in a range of open environments including grasslands, wetlands, and urban spaces like car parks and lawns, it is commonly spotted alone, in pairs, or small groups. Its characteristic behavior involves walking, running, and rhythmically pumping its long, white-edged tail. This bird is easily identified in flight by its unmistakable loud "tsee-tsee" call.
