Commonly found in urban areas, neighborhoods, and farmlands, this bird shies away from thick forests. It congregates in busy clusters within dense shrubbery, animatedly flitting about while communicating vocally. Distinguished by its striking features, males flaunt black bibs, vibrant rufous napes, and intricately patterned wings showcasing brilliant buffs and browns. Their underparts exhibit a soft pearly-gray hue. Conversely, females sport a modest brown plumage, accentuated by a charming face and lighter eyebrow markings. Originally hailing from Eurasia, this species has been introduced to numerous regions across the globe.
