The iconic large black crow lacks distinctive markings. Younger Rooks sport lengthier, sharper bills with additional feathers at the base. Smaller than the Common Raven, they lack its elongated tail, robust bill, fuzzy throat, and resonant vocalizations. Ravens effortlessly soar and glide, contrasting with the continuous flapping of crows. These birds thrive in diverse open environments like towns, farmlands, woodlands, and moors. They are usually seen in pairs or small clusters, congregating in sizable numbers only during roosting periods. Their calls are commonly characterized by raucous cawing.
