Jay

Residing in woodlands, forests, parks, and tree-rich gardens, especially those boasting larger oak trees, this bird features a robust black bill, a thick black mustache, and a distinctive black-and-white wing design highlighted by a periwinkle shoulder patch. Its white rump stands out during flight. Exhibiting notable variations across its extensive habitat range, this species is typically elusive, challenging to observe closely, yet occasionally forages in open areas or glides across roads. Known for its diverse vocal expressions, it emits a dry “scaaaaak” call alongside assorted warbles and hooted sounds.
