Marsh Tit
Poecile palustris
1 Photos
Small grayish-brown bird with a black-and-white head pattern, resembling the Willow Tit. Key differences include a less prominent wing panel, smaller head, and neater bib. These distinguishing features are more reliable in western Europe than in Asia. Found in deciduous woodlands, older orchards, gardens, and occasionally seen at bird feeders. Vocalizations serve as a distinctive marker in western Europe, characterized by repetitive "chew" notes and calls like "pitchu, pitchu" and "tsiptsip." Its song consists of a slow trill. Predominantly inhabits deciduous wooded areas.
