Canada Goose

Branta canadensis

1 Photos

This goose, featuring a large brown body with a black neck and white chinstrap, displays varied sizes and colorations across subspecies. It thrives in diverse habitats, from urban parks to remote marshlands and Arctic regions, often congregating in flocks or family units. Commonly found alongside Cackling Geese, particularly in central and western North America, the Canada Goose distinguishes itself by its larger size, longer neck, and bill, though some size overlap exists. Abundant in the U.S. and Canada but less common in Mexico, this species has also been introduced and established in Europe. Recognizable by its resonant honking, especially during migratory flights in the iconic V formation.
