Chloris chloris

The male displays a greenish hue, stout pale pinkish bill, and yellow highlights on wings and tail. Conversely, the female is less vibrant but shares the same patterns, notably the large, dull pinkish bill and yellow wing flash. These birds thrive in diverse wooded areas like parks, gardens, and farmland with scattered trees. During autumn and winter, they form flocks, sometimes venturing into open landscapes. They are frequent visitors to garden feeders. Listen for their chattering song and buzzy “dzweeeeee” calls. Originally from Eurasia, they have been introduced to southeastern South America, Australia, and New Zealand.
